Please check out this clip to see the lovely battered step used throughout the dance!

Each number below represents an 8 bar musical phrase. Danced to reels.

1. Couples dance it out, right hand in right, while facing one another.

2. Couples cross over, turning the lady once. The Lady moves forward uinder the gent's arm, and crosses into her own place, the gent follows and crosses in front of her into his place. There they dance it out, gents facing in and ladies facing the gents.

3. Couples return to place, turning the lady and dancing it out as above.

4. Swing, in elbow hold (partners take left hands, and hold right elbows).

5. Ladies chain, hands in the center, elbows with the gent. This chain is slow, so that the ladies take hands again on the way back only on the first beat of the next 8 bar phrase!

6. Ladies finish their chain home and dance it out, partners facing each other.

7. Swing as above.

8. First gent turns his lady one full turn, holding both hands, into the opposite couple. The gents keeps left in left, drops the elbow to catch the right hand, then un-crosses and re-crosses his arms as he turns the lady into place. Three against one, they dance it out.
