Perhaps blogging is a good way to communicate back and forth -- it's certainly more powerful than the somewhat dated and klunky GuestBook mechanism.
Should we give it a try?

We're making your cherry soup this weekend for our annual Jean (John) Girault's Birthday Party. He was Marika's 6th-great grandfather. French Hugenot, family fled to London, then he came to New York, ended up working for the Spanish Governor in Mississippi back in the day (late 18th century).

Well, it all started when a friend gave me a jar of walnuts preserved in honey...now the jar is empty I try to reproduce the effect with simpler means:
Roll out the pate brisee to make a free-form tart. Cover with sliced pears, sprinkle with halved walnuts, dribble with honey, dust with ground cinnamon and paint with melted butter. Bake and serve with white port. Lemme know what you think....

Hi Jed,
By chance I came to a link that lead me to this incredible “jedwentz.com” from where I came to your “blog”. I’m really impressed by all the information (and time!) you have put on it. Each item on the left side menu took me to another world… I loved the photos, some of them from old colleagues/friends who unfortunately I haven’t seem for a long time.
Diana & The Brodsky made the tears flow down from my eyes…Saudades… I’ll try to come to one of your “upcoming appearances".

Hello!
I've a little question:
What does the image in the homepage represent?
At first, I thought the "putto" tried to shoot with a flute d'amore...(???)
Perhaps it's a "deformation": I love playing it...

Well, I am npt entirly sure about the allegory... but I think the putto at the back with donkey's ears has been enjoying a concert of Frogs. He is seriously annoyed that the other putto is silencing the frog by threatening it with his flute!

Greetings from the last outpost of Western Civilization! In preparation for our holiday, I found this:
www.recipesource.com/ethnic/europe/scottish/indexall.html
The Scottish Rabbit Curry (I'll try anything that has bacon in it) and Surly Pierre's Haggis are intriguing.
And . . . from the menu at "Ducks at Le Marche Noir":
Terrine of Confit Rabbit and Chorizo
"The terrine was of good firm, moist texture, with a solid meaty bite. A good example of a well-made, rustic terrine of robust flavours and texture."
(Not quite the elusive chipotle haggis, but we're getting closer. And next visit I'll make the asparagus and purple potato risotto.)--kp

Jed, thanks for this great website (although I haven't had time to get to the recipes yet...just the stuff here on the blog is really making me hungry!). I'm a classical music announcer here in the city of hottest air (Washington DC) and talk about you once in a while on the air when Music Antiqua Cologne recordings are scheduled. Tell me, I can't find it elsewhere...were you born in the U.S.? You must speak very fluent Dutch and German! And, another announcer-type question...a pronunciation. Do you call yourself "Jed Wentz" or "Yedd Vents" or what? Thanks for sharing all your wonderful talents!

Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for your kind message, I am glad you like the site! I grew up in America, near Pittsburg, but have spent the last 25 years in Holland. The result is that I don't know how to pronounce my name anymore! I never say 'Yet', though many Dutch people call me that; I do however say 'Ventz' here in Europe. You may call me anything you like, though...

Ciao from Italy Jed,
got some years ago an e-mail from you which susprised me a lot! Not always Music artist like you write to their fans and I'm really one of you he he... Your way how to present yourself, your web page with those really nice pics let me think you must be a real sympathic friend. You seems to be not only a great musician but also a great guy. Many compliments ! One question: we sang last Thursday in Modena with our choir accompanied by the Vratza Philarmonic Ordchestra the Requiem of Brahms. It was very difficult and hard to learn and sing but I like it a lot. Do you that piece? How's your approach to Brahmns' music? One last question: do you ever come to Italy for playing? It wld be great to listed to you live. Ciao Armando, great Handel fan.

Hi Armando,
thanks for your message, I am glad you like my site. I want to do a bit update, but I have been very busy lately with my study; I just got back from a dance conference in Paris where i saw lots of beautiful Baroque dance! I like Brahms, but I never perform it, I do know the German Requiem, but i haven't heard it for a long time. Maybe I will listen to it today, thanks for reminding me!
We do not play often in Italy, sadly.
All the Best,
Jed

Dear Mr. Wentz, I receive a monthly issue of Flute Talk Magazine and not so long ago, came across an article by you in one of my many editions. Sharing a profound love for early music myself(much to the disappointment of my peers), I naturally turned to the internet in order to listen to your work. I just want to express my deepest admiration for your work! You truly are an exemplary musician. Keep up the great work!

Dear Mr. Wentz, I just discovered your Galliard CD and I love it. The music is very good (sounds a lot like Purcell to me), but what impresses me most is the way you play it: it's so full of energy and emotional charge!
Any chance of recording some of Bach's vocal works? You would make a terrific St. John's Passion, for example.

Dear Dpal,
Thanks so much, I am glad you like the Galliard. I love the piece, its has everything you need for an hours superior entertainment...funny bits, pretty bits and the astonishing lament with the records....I have just been asked by my record complany to write a text for the galliard, as they are planning on bringing it out as a seperate CD, so its very inspiring for me to know there are people out there enjoying it already!
i have no plns for Bach choral music...I was in fact asked to do a Matthew Passion but descided against it. They are soooo many version,a dn so many excellent people out there doing Bach, I would rather concentrate of the quirky repertoire that isn't being done...like..Telemann chuch cantatas??!!

It was really lovely to meet you.

Hi Jed, it's a pleasure for me to write you! I'm a traverso player and i love your way of making music. Can i ask you a suggestion about a traverso? I saw you have a Naust by Aurin. Is it a goog flute? I have some traversos (also a Palanca by M. Wenner)but i'm looking for another one. Have you got perhaps a valid email adress of F. Aurin?
Best wishes! I love your Brilliant's records.
